Frequently Asked Questions

General

What does The Villains Travel Agency do?

The Villains Travel Agency plans and books Disney and Universal vacations, parks, resorts, and cruises - handling research, reservations, dining, and Lightning Lane/Express strategy so clients don't have to. We work with families, couples, and groups planning trips to Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, and Universal Orlando Resort.

Is The Villains Travel Agency affiliated with Disney or Universal?

No. The Villains Travel Agency is an independent, Florida-licensed travel agency that specializes in Disney and Universal destinations. We are not owned, operated, or endorsed by The Walt Disney Company or Universal Destinations & Experiences.

Cost & Fees

Is it free to book a Disney or Universal vacation through VTA?

Yes, in most cases. Standard park and resort bookings are commission-based, so there's no planning fee to you. A planning fee only applies to complex bookings - such as multi-destination trips, large groups, or highly custom itineraries - and is always disclosed upfront before any work begins.

If it's free, how does VTA make money?

We earn a commission directly from Disney, Universal, and their resort partners when you book through us — the same rate you'd pay booking direct. That's how most standard vacations are handled at no added cost to you.

When would VTA charge a planning fee?

Only on complex bookings — for example, multi-resort itineraries, large groups (typically [X]+ rooms), or heavily customized multi-day plans that require significant research and coordination. You'll always know the fee and what it covers before we start.

Planning Process

How do I start planning a trip with The Villains Travel Agency?

Fill out our trip request form (or reach out directly) with your destination, travel dates, and group size. We'll follow up with a personalized quote and planning consultation — no cost or obligation to book.

How far in advance should I book a Disney or Universal vacation?

For the best room and package availability, we recommend booking [6–12] months ahead, especially for peak seasons, holidays, and Disney Cruise Line sailings. Popular resorts and dining reservations can fill up even earlier.

Can VTA help if I already booked my trip directly?

In many cases, yes — we can take over an existing Disney or Universal reservation as your agent of record at no extra cost, as long as it hasn't been fully paid off or checked in. Reach out and we'll confirm eligibility.

Disney

What's the difference between booking Disney direct and using a travel agent?

The price is the same either way — Disney doesn't charge more for using an agent. The difference is the planning support: a travel agent tracks discounts, builds your Genie+/Lightning Lane strategy, secures dining reservations, and handles changes on your behalf.

Does VTA help with Genie+ and Lightning Lane strategy?

Yes. We build a personalized touring plan and Lightning Lane strategy based on your party's priorities, park days, and crowd levels, so you're not guessing which selections to make on vacation day.

Can VTA book Disney Cruise Line vacations?

Yes. We book Disney Cruise Line sailings across all itineraries and can help select the right stateroom category, onboard add-ons, and pre/post-cruise hotel stays. We can often offer on board credit as well.

Which Disney destinations does VTA plan trips for?

We plan vacations to Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, and Adventures by Disney.

We also book Nat Geo Expeditions and bespoke trips to any of the 6 (and soon to be 7) Disney Resorts worldwide.

Universal

Does VTA plan Universal Orlando vacations?

Yes. We book Universal Orlando Resort vacation packages, including on-site hotels, park tickets, and Express Pass options, and can build combined Disney + Universal itineraries for a single Central Florida trip.

Can VTA get me Universal Express Pass?

Yes, where included with your package or purchased separately, we'll help you decide whether Express Pass is worth it for your travel dates and add it to your booking.

Booking Logistics

What payment methods does VTA accept, and how does the deposit process work?

Deposits and final payments are made directly to Disney or Universal through their standard payment methods; typical deposits run [$200 or 10% of package price], with final payment due [30 days] before travel. We'll walk you through the exact schedule for your booking.

Does VTA offer travel insurance?

We offer optional travel protection plans and will walk you through coverage options at the time of booking — it's never required, but recommended for cruises and non-refundable packages.

What happens if I need to change or cancel my trip?

Reach out to us directly and we'll handle date changes, cancellations, or rebooking on your behalf, following Disney's or Universal's current cancellation and change policies for your specific package.
