2027 is shaping up to be a huge year at Walt Disney World, and booking windows are already open. Before you lock in dates, here is a plain-English look at what is opening, what is still a guess, and how to avoid choosing the worst possible week.
What is on the calendar
Late 2026: resort refreshes wrap up. Multi-month exterior refurbishments at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Yacht Club Resort are expected to finish in late 2026.
Late spring 2027: Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress reopens at Magic Kingdom Park after a long closure. Disney has said the ride itself is changing significantly.
Summer 2027: Disney's Lakeshore Lodge opens on July 1, 2027. It is a new Disney Vacation Club resort with 967 rooms on the former site of River Country, near Magic Kingdom Park. Rooms include suites and new lake houses, with many offering views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
2027: Tropical Americas at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The land includes three attractions: Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto, an indoor family dark ride; Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, a thrill ride built where DINOSAUR used to be; and El Carrusel de los Animalitos, a carousel with Disney animals. Disney has not given a more specific date.
2027: Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios. It opens in phases, with most of the land coming first and the Monsters, Inc. coaster following later.
Late 2027: more resort refurbishments finish at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resort.

What is still undated
Villains Land and the Cars expansion at Magic Kingdom Park have no confirmed opening date, so do not plan around them.
How to time your trip
Do not book opening week. New lands attract the biggest crowds, and early days can come with downtime, long waits and tight reservations.
Consider the shoulder. A few weeks after a new area opens is often a sweet spot, with the buzz still there and the stress lower.

Book the hotel early. Disney's Lakeshore Lodge will be new, and new resorts tend to book up fast.
Holidays are open. Reservations for November and December 2027 are already available.
